ThisTech 📡
This is not a rant, please read carefully.
I will just dive into it:
When will we stop it with the "IndustryTech"? AdTech, MarTech, FinTech, PharmTech, EduTech, HealthTech, PropTech, InsurTech, CleanTech, SportsTech, RetailTech, Food Tech?
Are we really still stuck on using the cool “tech” suffix instead of just calling them what they are - advertising, marketing, pharmaceuticals, health, education, insurance, sports, retail, and food industries? We should have outgrown this trend by now, shouldn't we? Hasn’t the “tech” suffix been overused enough?
Here is what I think:
The suffix "tech" to any of the above should and will become redundant soon enough.
Yes, technology is everywhere, and it's driving success in every sector these days, and it should -along with innovation. But attaching "tech" to everything is becoming tiresome. And it really isn’t that cool!
The truth is, technology is in anything and everything we do. As I stated earlier, it has dominated success in each and every industry. But honestly, technology is merely an enabler. Software and hardware only accelerate advancements and transformation within industries and businesses.
The businesses that lead their respective industries or have great potential are thought-leaders, creative, risk-takers, courageous, and purposeful -all within their respective industries! They'll continue to dominate in the future regardless of whether they associate themselves with the "tech" suffix or not. The only way they'll become obsolete is if they don't adopt technology to support their growth and innovation.
So please, let's ditch the trendy jargon and focus on what really matters - using technology to drive meaningful change and progress in our industries, and ultimately our evolution.
